Mandela Day Initiative 2019
SAME Foundation saw the lives of more than 2500 school children changed at the Blair Atholl Primary Farm School in Lanseria and the Zimasa Community School in Langa, Cape Town on Mandela Day through their Mandela Day Fun-Day.
SAME Foundation Mandela Day Activities
These Mandela Day initiatives were hosted by the Foundation to create a fun day to celebrate Mandela in both Cape Town and Johannesburg. Like-minded organisations came out with their teams to celebrate the day by giving both schools a much-needed fresh new face-lift and giving all 2500 kids entertainment and fun packs!
The adults rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty by painting the entire school at Blair Atholl and creating a new aesthetically pleasing environment for both its learners and teachers. Meanwhile, in Cape Town at Zimasa, the adults rocked their work overalls and painted the Grade R building, three classrooms, and the staff room with fresh colors and brought each room to life. The teams also got a chance to interact with the learners as they enjoyed their day of fun activities. At Blair Atholl, the learners had their faces painted, participated in sports, enjoyed the jumping castle, and received lunch packs with treats. The learners at Zimasa also received party packs that were given out by the company teams, participated in competitions, danced up a storm, and won medals at the end of the day!
Impact Of Mandela Day
This was a Mandela Day that truly encapsulated everything that it should. SAME Foundation’s Mandela Day 2019 was a day where everyone came together as a community to improve lives, enjoy themselves while doing it, and give a new sense of hope and exuberance to over 2500 learners across South Africa. We were told that the event would be a day that the learners would never forget. Not only did the SAME Foundation participate in Mandela Day initiatives in Cape Town and Johannesburg, but a special Mandela Day celebration occurred in KwaZulu-Natal at the Sibusisiwe Comp Tech High School. BT, one of our donors, hosted an unforgettable event which included our Foundation, the learners, and the staff of Sibusisiwe.
