Red Ribbon Campaign 2011

The Red Ribbon Campaign was launched to create awareness in South Africa regarding the HIV/AIDS and TB pandemic and intends to create a change of attitude towards sexual behaviour, dispel discrimination and deal with the stigma attached to HIV/AIDS and TB. We urge companies to get actively involved and to take responsibility for educating their staff on HIV/Aids and TB. With the high incidence of HIV and TB in our province, we are working in close association with the Provincial Health Department in identifying high priority areas. In other words Community Clinics with high HIV/TB rates which have been declared ART sites, but do not have the infrastructure or medical equipment to deliver the service. Due to the great success of running this campaign over the past 5 years and after receiving numerous requests by our loyal donors, we have officially kicked off this exciting campaign for 2011.

2010 Campaign Report

Last year we celebrated World Aids Day by hosting a fashion show at the Audi Centre in Cape Town which received great support. The proceeds of the campaign went to the building and equipping of a new school at the Brooklyn Chest Hospital which is scheduled to be opened in October this year. We would like to say a special thank you to everyone that made this possible.

2011 Campaign

This year we are urging companies to partner with us once again to help those who are suffering with HIV/TB in the Western Cape. The aim of this year’s campaign is to educate people on how to:

  • Prevent contracting HIV
  • Live positively with HIV
  • Interact with HIV positive family or friends or colleague’s
  • Get tested for HIV/TB and the importance thereof
  • Get treatment and the importance thereof

We believe that every company should take responsibility to educate their employees on this matter and with our foundations help, you can! We make it easy for you by providing different packages of educational material of which the proceeds go towards purchasing medical equipment and refurbishing of HIV/TB facilities in the Western Cape. The following facilities will be assisted with this year’s proceeds: Heideveld CDC, Oudtshoorn ART Clinic, Thembalethu ART Clinic, Mossel Bay ART Clinic, Beaufort West Hospital, Leeu Gamka Clinic, Murraysburg Hospital, Laingsburg Hospital.

With this year’s campaign we are looking at raising
R 5 000 000 to fight HIV and TB and with your help we can do it.
