Oudtshoorn

Since the roll-out of ARV’s in the Oudtshoorn Sub-District, there was a steady increase in the number of clients on treatment since February 2005. They have developed from a small 2 room ARV consultation area into a fully-fledged ARV-Clinic, providing service to the population of Oudtshoorn (± 92 500) and Kannaland(± 26 000) Sub-District (100 km away).

The Hospital has about 870 clients on treatment of which 10% are children, 30% are male and 60% are female. Their services cover the whole spectrum of pregnancy, children and adult care. Outreach and support are provided to the TB-programme in the Sub-District to Primary Health Care Clinics.

Our wonderful partnership with Mutual & Federal allowed us to supply this ARV Clinic with over R224 000 worth of medical equipment. This equipment was desperately needed in the diagnosing and treating of the constantly growing patient load and has had appositive impact on the staff morale. This project was one of 5 areas we targeted in our 2011 Red Ribbon Campaign.
