For Mandela Day 2016, donors of the SAME Foundation were invited to take a break from the office and assist the Foundation to renovate classrooms at Sgodiphola Secondary, in Cosmo City, Johannesburg, as well and Manzomthombo Secondary in Mfuleni, Cape Town.
The initiative gives donors the opportunity to not only fund the work the Foundation does, but also get hands-on in creating positive change in communities that need it the most.
At Sgodiphola Secondary, with the help of 200 people from 13 companies, the infrastructure of 17 classrooms was repaired and repainted. At Manzomthombo Secondary the focus was on repairing and refreshing the dilapidated entrance of the school. The Mandela Day activities added immense value to the lives of the children at the schools, who can now learn in a comfortable and safe environment that they are proud of.
