Mandela Day Activities 2019: Cape Town and Johannesburg
Each year SAME Foundation chooses one of its education beneficiaries as a recipient of our Mandela Day initiative, where we bring together like-minded organisations to benefit the school on the day and going forward.
Our Mandela Day initiative is an opportunity for our donors and corporate teams to get involved, give back on Mandela Day, and be a part of a team-building activity. This also allows you to have an on-site experience in a similar education project that you may support.

Mandela Day Farm School Festival
Project:
Our Mandela Day initiatives are always part of our larger high-impact projects. At Blair Atholl Primary School we have installed storm-water drainage systems and done extensive paving around the school. This year, with your help, we will be painting the outside of the school. With enough participants we can paint an entire school in just one day! This Mandela Day we will also host a fun day for the children – we are extremely excited to be able to share this significant day with the children, while putting smiles on their faces. The children will take part in egg races, netball and soccer matches, face painting, and other fun activities.
Location:
Blair Atholl Primary – Farm School, Lanseria, Gauteng
Date and Time:
Mandela Day, July 18 2019
9:30 – 15:00
Getting Involved:
- You need a donation of R30 000 for your team of 10 employees to attend. A cost breakdown is attached of how the funds are used.
- These funds go towards the project and BEE and 18A tax certificates are issued.
- Don’t forget to dress comfortably, we recommend old clothes because you will get hands-on and dirty!

Mandela Day Painting Restoration
Project:
Our Mandela Day initiative for 2019 is at one of our previous high-impact project schools, Zimasa Primary School. This school didn’t have proper infrastructure to teach general science to its primary students. In 2018, our Foundation completed a science laboratory in the school as one of our education focused initiatives. This year, with your assistance, we will paint the exterior of the Grade R building of the school to give it a new and bright face-lift! It is our hope to paint the whole outside in the one day. We will give a whole new experience to the children when they arrive for school the next day.

Zimasa Primary School, Langa, Cape Town
